Invitation to Reflection Day: Crisis, Alternative and Solidarity with Ignacio Ramonet. Saturday May 22 at Arantzazu. 10:00 a.m. in Gandiaga Topagunea

Day Suspended due to illness of speaker

Neoliberal globalization has been considered usually as a single economic system. The freedom of markets and economic growth legislation, is considered the substantial element in the development, minimizing the equitable redistribution of wealth, both within countries and between North and South. But again, the excessive greed, and uncontrolled financial speculation exacerbated consumerism, among other things, has caused a major economic crisis in recent decades, a "crack" that escapes the logic of cyclical crises of the capitalist economy and will entail changes in the economic system.

The citizens of the North, outraged by the situation, we are also suffering the consequences of this crisis as higher unemployment, precarious working conditions, increased social exclusion, loss of welfare problems for the emancipation of the new generations, etc.. The crisis is placing cuts in social spending. That is, pay twice: once with the recipe of "tighten their belts" and another through cuts in social investment.

Regarding to the south, what will happen to the 1,400 million people (one in four people in the world) who still lives in poverty?, Why, governments have not been released long ago to rescue these people?. The effects of the current crisis of economic system does not do more than remind us that the causes of poverty are closely linked to the rules and global economic-commercial relations.

At is in this context of crisis, and within the awareness and training activities undertaken jointly by TAU and Caritas Arantzazu Gipuzkoa, is located this day of reflection with Professor Ignacio Ramonet that invite you to participate on May 22-Saturday - from 10 to 13:30 am at the Gandiaga Topagunea
