TAU trip to Morocco
During the first week of July, Arantxa Arruti (patron of TAU), Fausto Yudego (coordinator), Arantxa and Simon (two volunteers from Zarautz), made a trip to Morocco (a country where our NGO cooperates). The main reason for this trip has been to supervise and monitor various projects in which TAU is cooperating. Among the projects visited, we would highlight the project "Promotion of Women's Cooperative for olive oil production in Ras Laksa". This community, located in a rural area of difficult access (at 120 kilometers southeast of Taza), is developing this project by agreement between the Moroccan organization "Femme Action" and the local partner Caritas Morocco. Also involved in the project, the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, who devoted the amount of € 93,056 to the project in 2009 through our organization.
Project activities are developing as planned, and the building is being built to house plant olive oil extraction to be managed by a cooperative of women in the community who previously had received literacy classes.
Also during the trip, has had the opportunity to meet other projects, people and organizations with the aim always to seek avenues of cooperation based on reciprocity and struggles for the most impoverished.
