Leitmotiv: The rural area of Boumia, made up of small villages, is a particularly disadvantaged and poor area, where the fight against poverty, especially between women, is strongly needed. Because of that it is urgent to work on literacy, awareness and empowerment of women in rural areas and at the same time the project seeks to generate some activity to report income to the women in this impoverished place in Morocco.
To reach this aims the project tries to continue the literacy and vocational training conducted by Femme Action in Boumia for 70 women, from June 2008 to May 2009, and expand these activities to other 75 more women over the area. Training to all of them and looking for many to became members of the new women's cooperative, dedicated to the breeding of goats and cheese production.
We have verified the women desire to engage in this area and the skillful teachers and cheer leading groups and we realise their insistence when demand support for their own desires and expectations.
Specific aim: Literacy, training professionals and create a women's cooperative for raising goats and making cheese.
Activities:
- Literacy of women beneficiaries.
- Creating a women's cooperative for goat farming and cheese production.
- Purchase of goats: two goats for each woman, for a minimum of 41 women.
- Grant for purchase of food to feed the goats during the first six months of operation.
- Preparation and design of a didactic and practical guidance about cheese production.
Target population: 75 women.
