Location: Suburb Cristo Rey, in BONAO
Local partner: Fundación Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Foundation Our Lady of Guadalupe)
Justification: No drinking water supply exists in the area; it is necessary to boil water from a well or buy a 19 liter garrafe for 30 pesos (very expensive for empoverished families). Also diarrheic diseases are the main cause for infant mortality.
Objectives:
- Expansion of water purifying plant with a capacity for 1.200 garrafes/day for the families of the communities.
- Support through small surplus of the water sale (without commercial criteria) financial sustainability of the children´s home San Francisco and the plan for child nutrition that attends to 50 children.
Activities:
- Activate water purifying plant.
- Improve distribution and use of bottled water in garrafes from the purifying plant
Beneficiay population: Direct 1,200 poor families of the suburb.
