Justification:
The state of emergency following the 2008 year floods led up to the planification and beginning of actions aimed at dignifying the affected persons; in fact, one of their problems, specially for women, was to lose their income source or permanent job. Vicinal Boards with whom the local partner Caritas Beni works and the women of the most affected disctricts asked for help and means of occupation that allow them to integrate back into the labour market. Caritas came into contact with the nine Districts settled in the most affected zone that showed themselves to be keen on organizing the micro-companies as soon as possible. Finally, women of eight districts turned out to be interested in this project. Along with the said districts representatives it has been considered that the micro-companies should be: ready-to-wear clothes industry, bread production and pastrymaking, textile and crafts.
Objectives:
General: to improve the quality of life of one hundred and twenty four women living in eight districts of Trinidad (Beni-Bolivia) through their socio-labour inclusion and support for activities engendering micro-companies.
Specific:
- To provide specific training in Cooking, Bakery, Sewing and Crafts that make the beneficiary women able to create micro-companies.
- To implement a total of fourty one micro-companies in order to favour one hundred and twenty four women´s and their families´ quality of life.
Activities:
- Training workshops in Cooking –Bakery- Sewing and Crafts.
- Agreement signings between Caritas Beni and the Mayoralty of Trinidad.
- Allocation and making of the Micro-Companies.
- Agreement signings between Caritas Beni and the beneficiaries of the micro-companies.
- Acquisition of tools and kits to start up the micro-companies.
- Acquisition of inputs and raw material required to start up the micro-companies.
- Handover of kits and inputs to the beneficiaries.
- Fitting out of space for the Micro Companies (little civil works).
- Trade exhibition and sale of goods manufactured by the micro-companies.
- Assessment and follow-up (Reports).
- Accompaniment and monitoring.
Beneficiary population: 124 women from eight districts of Trinidad in a direct way and 620 relatives in and indirect one.
