Location: Rural community of Ras Laksar, located 120 km towards the south of Taza city (Morocco)
Local partner: Caritas Rabat-Morocco.
Justification: the main problems this project aims to solve are:
- Women´s lack of basic formation and literacy in Ras Laksar community whose ilitaracy reaches %80. Tackling the educational problem is absolutely essential in order to empower the women of the zone and provide them with basic cultural resources that later on make them autonomous and conscious agents for the socio-economic development of their families and community.
- The absence of productive economic companies en Ras Laksar that aim to improve women´s standing and power through cooperation, self-employment and increase of sustainable family economic incomes.
Objectives: The increase in the basic formation, cultural capacity and economic autonomy of the women of Ras Laksar
Activities:
- Basic literacy courses.
- Assessment and accompaniment of the beneficiary women of the literacy.
- Training courses on the making of an olive oil producing Cooperative.
- Making of the women´s cooperative.
- Assignment of land to build the centre of extraction and production of oil olive.
- Realization of the architectonic project to build the centre of oil olive extraction and production.
- The building´s construction.
- Follow-up of the work and visits to the oil olive production plants.
- Realization of the water and electrical connections necessary for the building.
- Equipment of the oil olive extraction and production building.
- Beneficiaries training in handling and using the new machinery.
- Olives grinding: start of the work in the cooperative.
