Justification: Access to drinking water is limited in El Salvador, getting even worse when speaking about quality. The population of Aguilares also lacks drinking water in quantity and quality, and the population has always been looking for solution of this problem turning to local and national authorities, but nothing has been done so far.
Objectives: Guarantee construction of quality drinking water system in the communities of Cartagena Bolívar and Las Tunas, the township of Aguilares for 51 beneficiary families.

- Socialization of project

- Purchase and transport of construction material
- Suction well drilling
- Construction of a storage tank
- Installation of pumping equipment and auxiliary plant
- Opening of ditch and laying of pipe network and for domestic distribution
- Installation of laterals, taps, stopcocks and domiciliary counters
- Inauguration of water system
- Creation of a water committee
- Writing of rules of the system and use of drinking water.
- Technicians from CORDES pay accompanying visits and give orientation for communities
- General evaluation of project results
- Analysis of water quality control
- Elaboration of 2 training modules (environmental hygiene, handling and use of drinking water)
- Celebrate 2 interchanges with water boards of two communities
Beneficiary population: 251 inhabitants, 140 women and 111 men
Duration of project: 10 months
Budget and financing: 208.781,83€ (participates Government of Navarre/Spain)
Achievement:
A total of 51 homes have connections now to domestic drinking water system.
Strengthening of organisations of the communities, including the creation of a water committee.
Training for board of directors, for Water Committee and beneficiary population in handling and use of water.
