Sustainable Agricultural Production Systems with an gender equity approach in rural communities of the municipalities of San Pablo and El Tacachico Paisnal, El Salvador, CA.

Characteristics of project

Location: Municipalities of Aguilares and San Pablo Tacachico (El Salvador)

Local partner: Association Foundation for the Cooperation and communal development of El Salvador.

Justification: This project is part of the strategic lines of the Freedom Program, which was designed by Communities, CORDES and municipalities, through a participatory processes performed in each of the communities where CORDES works, identifying problems and needs as:

  • Lack of consolidation of the organization.
  • Subsistence farming.
  • Low income.
  • Undernourishment.
  • Unemployment.
  • Among others.

Specific aim: Establishing sustainable farming systems with an equity approach in rural communities of El Paisnal and Paul Tacachico.

Activities:

  • Socialization of the project. Reporting the population of the communities about  different  activities performed during the project.
  • Identification and selection of women beneficiaries.
  • Materials, supplies and cows purchase.
  • Establishment of 35 banks ranchers with equal numbers of women.
  • Application of  2,000 Prophylactic plans.
  • Technical support.
  • Identification and selection of women beneficiaries.
  • Materials and supplies purchase.
  • Planting 25 acres of fruit trees.
  • Technical support.
  • Sowing 50 acres of pasture, with 65 women.

  • Scheduling of training.
  • Development of 7 days of training.
  • Development of 2 field trips.

  • Scheduling of training.
  • Development of 8 workshops on masculinity and local economic development with equity.

Target population: 165 women and 100 men from 16 municipalities.

Project length: 12 months

Budget: 182.470,60€

Funding: TAU, Government of Gipuzkoa and Pamplona Town hall.
