Local partner: Fundación Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Foundation Our Lady of Guadalupe)
Justification: The social reality of poverty in combination with lack of formation of the parents have shown, that child abuse and child malnutrition in children aged 0 to 5 constitute serious problems and condition severly present and future of many children in some suburbs of Bonao.
Objectives:
- Prevent child abuse and malnutrition through educational workshops about child development and nutrition for parents of children from 0-5 years.
Offer orientation and psychological assistence for people (fathers, mothers, children) who might need it through an consultation office for clinical psychology.
Activities: Educational workshops: “Learning how to be a parent”, “Helping our children to grow” and assistance through our consultation office for clinical psychology.
Beneficiary population: Directly100 mothers, 80 fathers and 2 tutors and indirectly 400 children
Project duration: From March 5th to February 24th, 2008
Budget: 35,516.1 Euros (participates Ay. de Donostia)
Achievement:
After the first informative meeting to motivate the participation of the beneficiary parents, the first of those two workshops started on May 20th with the topic “Love and limits”.
Until July 16th, and during 9 work days and with an average of 45 people the following topics were treated:

• Growth and development - Survey. (brochure 1)
• Setting limits-positive discipline. (video and brochure)
• Familiar meeting and food in the street
• Breast feeding – Evaluation. (brochure 3)
• Learning how to put sanctions. Child abuse. (brochure 3)
• Family planning and spacing of new births. (vídeo)
In addition to those topics in workshops two session of MIOMETRICS for beneficiary children checked their health situation, and the results were as follows: Participants: 67 mothers and 69 children.

In all working sessions of the workshops a snack was served to all participants and a food incentive for their homes. The workshops also had child care facilities for the children of participating parents.
